20 Apr
Summary
- River debris removal is significantly behind schedule.
- Long-term flood mitigation plans are still in development.
- New interventions include gabion walls and water level sensors.

Flood mitigation efforts for Vadodara's Vishwamitri River are progressing slowly, with the removal of silt and construction debris along its banks proving to be a major hurdle. While short-term measures have been initiated following committee recommendations, the implementation of long-term solutions is still pending.
A recent survey identified 13 locations where construction waste has been dumped, with minimal progress made in clearing it. The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has directed its solid waste department to address this issue, acknowledging the substantial costs involved.
