UK Weather: Will a heatwave return this September?

As mid-September arrives, the UK's weather is turning unpredictable. While a prolonged heatwave is not anticipated, meteorologists suggest there is scope for some rather warm days interspersed with cooler nights. The Met Office forecasts a split in early autumn conditions, with low-pressure systems from the Atlantic bringing changeable weather.

From September 18 to September 27, northern and western parts of the UK, including Scotland and Northern Ireland, can expect frequent rain and potential strong winds. However, southern areas are predicted to have more reasonably dry and settled periods.

Looking ahead into late September and early October, this changeable pattern is expected to persist, with further spells of rain and gusty winds likely, particularly in the north and west. Short-lived settled spells are also possible, most likely in the south, with temperatures generally near average for the season.
