UK Braces for More Storm Chaos
27 Oct
Summary
- New weather warnings issued after Storms Austen and Boelo caused disruption.
- Strong winds and heavy rain are expected across western UK areas.
- Conditions are expected to improve from Wednesday with calmer weather.

The UK is preparing for continued adverse weather conditions as fresh warnings have been issued by the Met Office following recent storms. Yellow wind warnings are in effect for Monday evening into Tuesday, impacting western regions of England, parts of Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. These warnings follow significant disruption caused by Storms Austen and Boelo over the weekend, which brought severe gusts and heavy rainfall.
Inland gusts are forecast to reach 45-50mph, with coastal areas and high ground experiencing 60-65mph winds. Heavy rain may accompany these winds, potentially causing disruption in the early hours of Tuesday. Further warnings are in place for most of Scotland and northeast Northern Ireland throughout Tuesday, with gusts exceeding 70mph possible in northwestern Scotland.
By Wednesday, conditions are expected to stabilize as high pressure influences the UK, bringing lighter winds and drier weather. While western areas might still see some breezy conditions and light showers, many regions will experience brighter spells. Overnight fog is possible, and daytime temperatures are predicted to reach between 12-16C.
