UK Braces for Ice: Warnings Issued for North
16 Feb
Summary
- A new weather warning for ice is active in northern UK areas.
- Temperatures will fall below freezing, creating black ice risks.
- Numerous flood warnings remain in place across England and Wales.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice across northern regions of the UK. Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing overnight in parts of eastern Scotland and north-east England. This warning is in effect from Sunday evening to Monday morning.
Commuters are advised to be vigilant due to the risk of black ice forming on untreated surfaces. This follows a weekend where frosty Arctic air spread south, bringing snow and ice warnings. The Environmental Agency has also issued numerous flood warnings and alerts across England, primarily in the south and Midlands.
Natural Resources Wales has activated three flood alerts in specific catchments. Looking ahead, Monday will see variable weather with scattered showers and some rain, especially in southern areas. Northern Scotland can expect rain and hill snow. By late Tuesday, cloud and rain are forecast to move into south-west England and south Wales, with potential for snow warnings mid-week.
