7 Mar
Summary
- UK veterinarians will travel to China to aid rescued dogs.
- The mission focuses on rehabilitating severely injured animals.
- Some rescued dogs may travel to Europe for rehoming.

Veterinarians Vanessa Waite and Calum Marshall from The Vet Station in Molesey are traveling to Harbin, China, on March 15th to assist injured survivors of the dog meat trade. Joining volunteers from the UK charity Broken Biscuits, they will support a local rescue shelter run by Hayley of Harbin SHS Animal Rescue.
The team's objective is to help severely injured dogs, many suffering from untreated fractures, joint damage, or spinal injuries sustained from neglect and harsh conditions, to walk again. This mission aims to provide these animals with a better future.
Furthermore, the vets will share their specialized orthopedic knowledge with the shelter team. This knowledge transfer is intended to benefit a greater number of dogs long after the UK team departs. Some critically injured dogs are slated to travel to Europe, with the most severe cases coming to the UK for rehabilitation and eventual rehoming.
