Tunstall Cleans Up: Locals Revitalize High Street

The "Big Tunstall Clean Up" is a community-led initiative where volunteers are actively working to cleanse Tunstall's high street. This movement, established in October 2024, was born from a shared belief that the town had entered a period of decline. Business owners and residents are dedicating two days weekly to combat litter, graffiti, and grime, aiming to enhance the local area and attract more visitors to shops.

Spearheaded by local figures like Curtis Peters of TS Domestics, the group's efforts are driven by a passion for community improvement. Peters, a lifelong Tunstall resident, emphasized the potential for a tidier high street to increase business and community pride. The initiative seeks to foster a broader sense of responsibility, with aspirations to see similar clean-up groups emerge throughout Stoke-on-Trent's six distinct towns.

Currently self-funded by the participating businesses, the movement is preparing to launch a foundation. This will facilitate the attraction of donations, enabling the expansion of their operations. Organizers also express a desire to collaborate with similar groups nationwide, potentially building a significant, country-wide movement for community beautification.
