22 Feb
Summary
- Sixteen garbage hotspots were transformed into beautified public spaces.
- Reclaimed sites are being monitored round the clock to prevent misuse.
- Sixty-four garbage hotspots have been transformed since September 2023.

Tiruchi Corporation has successfully transformed sixteen more garbage-vulnerable points (GVPs) into beautified public spaces, continuing its sanitation drive.
Locations near Nagappa Swamy Kovil, Keelapudur Main Road, and adjacent to a private school in Woraiyur have been revitalized with vibrant wall murals and greenery, actively discouraging littering and open urination.
These reclaimed sites, which previously served as informal dumping grounds, are now being developed into mini green zones. The initiative, managed by the city's waste collection agency, aims to curb waste accumulation and improve air quality.
Since September 2023, the civic body has reclaimed and transformed a total of sixty-four garbage hotspots across residential and commercial areas in all five zones of the city. These spots are under constant surveillance to prevent recurrence of dumping.
