The operation, codenamed TARA, is a focused program designed to bolster tiger numbers in the region. The Union Ministry has sanctioned the translocation of up to eight tigers to the reserve, a move crucial for supporting population recovery and enhancing genetic diversity within the species.
This intervention, involving scientific supervision from the Wildlife Institute of India, represents a renewed effort to establish a thriving tiger presence in the Western Ghats.
