Tigress and Cubs Captured in Karnataka's Bandipur Tiger Reserve

On November 7, 2025, the Karnataka Forest Department successfully captured a five-year-old tigress and her three cubs in the Kallahalli area along the fringes of the Bandipur Tiger Reserve (BTR). This was the second such capture in recent days, following the apprehension of a tiger suspected of mauling three people to death in the Moleyur range of BTR over the weekend.
Officials confirmed that the tigress had been repeatedly entering residential areas and attacking livestock. It is also suspected that the animal may have mauled a person during the last week of October. The tigress and her cubs are currently under the close supervision of veterinarians from the forest department.
Karnataka Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre stated that operations will continue to monitor and capture other tigers that have been sighted roaming outside the forest areas near Bandipur and Nagarahole Tiger Reserves. This comes in response to a series of recent tiger attacks on people and livestock in the region.
