In Madhya Pradesh, a tiger has been electrocuted in the territorial forests of Satna district after it stumbled into a live electric wire trap. This incident brings the state's tiger death toll to 40 for the current year.
The fatal event occurred in the Majhgawan forest range, a critical wildlife corridor linking Panna and Bhandavgarh tiger reserves. Investigations indicate the tiger likely died in May after accidentally contacting the illegal trap. Poachers are suspected of burying the carcass to conceal the evidence.
Following a tip six days ago, forest officials launched a search. Two individuals, including a forest watcher, have been detained. The forest watcher allegedly confessed that a relative set the trap for wild boars and the tiger died upon contact. The skeletal remains of the tiger were recovered from a buried site.
