- Cub strayed from mother, found in a village cattle shed.
- Rehabilitation in a protected enclosure is planned.
A Royal Bengal tiger cub, separated from its mother and unfed for several days, has begun to recover in Similipal Tiger Reserve. On Saturday, the cub consumed about 2.5 kg of meat mixed with oral medication, showing a positive response and calmness, according to reserve officials. Veterinarians are closely monitoring the cub's health and behavior at an observation facility.
Blood samples will be collected to assess its health parameters before it is relocated to a specially prepared enclosure for rehabilitation. The cub had strayed into Khaparakoli village, Mayurbhanj district, after becoming separated from its mother, a rare occurrence for cubs under 18 months old. Its entry into a village cattle shed was considered unusual, as tigers typically avoid human contact.
