In a significant development, BRT Tiger Reserve authorities have successfully rescued one of four tiger cubs. The 10-month-old female cub was captured late Thursday evening near Nanjedevanapura village and is reported to be in good health, currently under observation. This rescue follows the earlier capture of the tigress, who had been causing alarm among villagers due to her proximity to their settlement.
The operation to locate and safely rescue the remaining three cubs is actively continuing. Forest personnel are closely monitoring their movements in the buffer zone of the BRT Tiger Reserve. These cubs are believed to have survived by hunting local wildlife, while their mother has been transferred to Bannerghatta National Park.
The intensive operation involved multiple teams, including veterinary officers, elephant support from Kodagu district, and drone surveillance. The forest department is prioritizing the safety of both the villagers and the wildlife throughout this ongoing rescue mission, which began after the tigress and her cubs were first sighted in mid-December.
