Summary
- A tigress believed to have killed a farmer was tranquilised and captured.
- The captured tigress's five healthy cubs were also rescued by the department.
- Increased tiger attacks have prompted new measures to mitigate human-wildlife conflict.

Following a farmer's death in H.D. Kote taluk, Mysuru district, forest officials successfully tranquilised and captured an eight-year-old tigress. This tigress is believed to be responsible for the fatal attack on October 26, an identification confirmed by camera-trap images. The operation involved intensive combing for over two weeks with wildlife veterinarians and camp elephants.
Alongside the tigress, wildlife authorities also rescued her five cubs, aged between two and 2.5 months. Three cubs were found on Monday and two more were rescued after the farmer's death. The captured tigress exhibited no significant injuries, only superficial wounds from a possible encounter with another tiger.
The recent surge in tiger attacks, which resulted in three farmer deaths and one injury, has highlighted the conflict in areas adjacent to Bandipur Tiger Reserve. In response, the state government has ordered the suspension of safaris and announced measures, including a task force, to address rising human-wildlife conflicts.
