Three children's play areas in Surrey are slated for significant inclusive and accessible upgrades. Reigate and Banstead Borough Council announced that facilities in Hogden Bottom (Kingswood), Beecholme Recreation Ground (Banstead), and South Park (Reigate) will be revitalized with new equipment and landscaping.
These enhancements are part of the council's annual play area replacement program. Construction is slated to commence early in 2026, with Hogden Bottom's upgrades starting next week and expected to be completed by the end of January 2026. Beecholme Recreation Ground's renovation will follow, while a specific start date for South Park is still pending.
The new designs emphasize sustainability, utilizing recycled and natural materials. Features will include swings, slides, balance bridges, and crucially, sign language communication and multi-activity sensory panels to ensure a diverse range of ages and abilities can interact and play together.
