South Florida Under Storm Alert: Heat, Humidity, and Tropical Threats Loom

South Florida is experiencing hot and humid weather as August concludes, with the potential for strong thunderstorms developing throughout the day. High temperatures are forecast to reach the low 90s, feeling much hotter with humidity. These storms could bring heavy downpours and localized flooding.
The beginning of September is also predicted to be wet, with widespread showers and thunderstorms expected mid- to late-week. This increased rainfall is attributed to the moisture associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Dolly.
Meteorologists are closely monitoring two areas in the tropics. An area of low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico, south of Louisiana, has a high probability of developing into a tropical depression or storm. Separately, the remnants of Tropical Storm Dolly near Hispaniola are being tracked, though they have a low chance of redeveloping.
