South Florida Drenched by Slow Storms

South Florida is under a marginal risk of urban flooding on June 4 due to slow-moving showers and storms. These weather systems have the potential to cause additional flooding, particularly in areas that have already experienced significant rainfall in recent days. On June 3, northern Miami-Dade County was issued a Flash Flood Warning, with subsequent Flood Advisories for northeastern coastal parts of the county.

The weather pattern is influenced by a frontal boundary lingering over the Keys, combined with substantial moisture south of Alligator Alley. Consequently, the National Weather Service anticipates the greatest shower and storm activity to concentrate along the coastal regions of Collier, Miami-Dade, and Broward counties.

While widespread rainfall accumulations are expected to remain under two inches, pockets of higher rainfall could exacerbate urban flooding issues. Key metropolitan areas along the east coast, including Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Miami Beach, and Miami, are particularly vulnerable to these localized flooding events.
