Himachal's peaks dusted with snow, Kashmir valleys get a white coat

Parts of Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul-Spiti district received light snowfall on Wednesday, bringing a touch of winter magic. Intermittent snow fell in higher reaches, intensifying the cold, with trace amounts recorded in Kukumseri and light snowfall in areas like Koksar and the Atal tunnel.
Meanwhile, higher reaches of Kashmir also experienced fresh snowfall. Despite this, the valley continues to see unusually warm winter temperatures, with night temperatures remaining above seasonal averages. Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 2.3 degrees Celsius, significantly above normal.
Forecasters predict continued light to moderate rain and snowfall across Himachal Pradesh in the coming days, with a cold wave alert issued for several districts. Kashmir may also see further precipitation, with a possibility of moderate to heavy snowfall in its northern and central higher reaches.
