A new Wildlife Interpretation Centre and Science Park has been inaugurated at Mahatma Gandhi Park in Shivamogga, marking a significant addition to the Shivamogga Smart City project. This center is designed to foster public appreciation and exploration of forests, wildlife, biological diversity, and scientific concepts.
The center features engaging exhibits, starting with a wildlife diorama in the lobby. Visitors can explore rooms dedicated to the biodiversity of the Western Ghats, the cultural heritage of Shivamogga, and immersive forest experiences. A key focus is educating citizens on sustainability and addressing global environmental challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, and pollution.
The inauguration was led by Shivamogga MLA S.N. Channabasappa, who emphasized the center's role in educating the public, particularly schoolchildren, about wildlife. He encouraged residents to visit and experience the park's many attractions, highlighting its educational and recreational value.
