- Proposed amendments include new wildlife habitats and relocated solar panels.
Plans for a substantial battery energy storage system and a 500MW solar farm situated on 2,520 acres near Selby are being modified following significant local objections.
The development, intended for land between several villages including Escrick and South Milford, faced criticism over the loss of agricultural land, effects on the rural landscape, and potential harm to wildlife.
In response, Light Valley Solar Limited has proposed nine amendments. These include relocating solar panels from an area near Milford Lodge to create grassland habitats for ground-nesting birds, addressing concerns from residents and North Yorkshire Council.
Further changes aim to improve safety for aircraft by moving panels away from a proposed emergency landing strip near Sherburn Aero Club. Construction access routes are also being altered in response to community feedback.
