A young grey seal pup was discovered blocking a road in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, on Thursday morning. The seal's unexpected location near the Grand Hotel posed a risk to traffic. Staff from Me'N'u Scarborough found the pup while heading to work and contacted the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR).
BDMLR Marine Mammal Medics responded quickly, securing the area and ensuring the pup's safety. They explained that heavy tides can sometimes push tired seal pups away from the beach, leading them to find rest in precarious spots. The seal was safely returned to the shore, where it was last seen resting peacefully and conserving energy without disturbance.
