Scotland has committed over £1 million to bolster nature recovery initiatives nationwide. This significant investment targets crucial areas such as habitat and river restoration, species recovery, and invasive species control.
A substantial allocation of £150,100 is earmarked for the Abernethy wildfire area in the Cairngorms. This funding is specifically aimed at restoring habitats damaged by the July wildfire, aiding wildlife recovery, and reducing the likelihood of future such events.
Additional projects receiving support include native oyster restoration, habitat improvements for chough on Islay, and enhancements within four national nature reserves. These efforts are part of a broader £23 million budget for nature restoration planned for 2026-27.
