Singing Seals Released Back to the Sea!
26 Feb
Summary
- Six seals named after singers were released into the sea.
- The RSPCA Wildlife Centre cared for the seals until release.
- Rescue charities report a rise in seals needing care this winter.

A group of six seals, each bearing a musical moniker, has been successfully returned to the sea in Devon. The seals, named Elvis, Wurzel, Arctic Monkey, Benson Boone, Sleep Token, and Fleetwood Mac, were all taken in and rehabilitated by the RSPCA West Hatch Wildlife Centre.
The dedicated team at the centre worked to build up the seals' strength, ensuring they were healthy and robust enough for release. This collective effort underscores a broader issue recently highlighted by rescue organizations.
Both the RSPCA and the British Divers Marine Life Rescue have reported a notable surge in the number of seals requiring aid and extensive care throughout the recent winter months. The successful rehoming of Elvis and her companions serves as a prominent example of this ongoing challenge.
