A bald eagle, recovering from a shooting injury, was released back into the wild on Thursday. The bird had been shot in the wing with a ball bearing near Croke Reservoir in Northglenn, Colorado. City park rangers and animal control officers rescued the eagle after it was spotted in distress.
Following rescue, X-rays revealed the extent of the injury. The eagle required surgery and spent several weeks recuperating before its release. This act of harming a bald eagle is a violation of federal laws, including the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
