Rajasthan's inaugural scientific tiger rewilding initiative is approaching a significant milestone. A rehabilitated male tiger, designated RVT-7, recently underwent radio-collaring at the Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve's rewilding enclosure. This procedure, conducted under expert supervision, is a crucial step before its planned release into the wild.
RVT-7, an orphaned cub of a Ranthambore tigress, received extensive rehabilitation for nearly two years. This period focused on developing natural hunting instincts while minimizing human interaction. The tiger was housed in a specialized enclosure and provided with natural prey to hone survival skills.
The female sibling of RVT-7 has already successfully adapted to life in the Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve. The impending release of RVT-7 is anticipated within five to seven days, following close monitoring of its health and behavior. This event will signify the successful completion of the rewilding project.
