Among them was a minor, accused of illegally possessing and trafficking these protected species. A forest offense has been formally registered against the accused under the relevant provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
The forest department emphasizes the serious threat illegal wildlife trade poses to biodiversity. Investigations are continuing to uncover the full extent of the trafficking network.
