A peregrine falcon, found injured and grounded near Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre, has been successfully reunited with its family. The young female bird was discovered at the end of June, unable to fly or perch due to its injuries, an unusual circumstance for peregrines.
Brinsley Animal Rescue in Nottinghamshire collaborated with Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital to nurse the falcon back to health. The shelter provided rehabilitation and allowed the bird to practice flying in an aviary.
Upon its release on Thursday, the falcon swiftly found its parents and siblings. This reunion brought tears to the eyes of the rescue team, who expressed privilege in treating and seeing the magnificent bird fly again. The falcon was noted to be offspring of a male peregrine previously treated by the same rescue.
Experts suspect the bird sustained injuries during its initial flights from the nest, possibly after colliding with an object.
