Nottingham Trent University is celebrating the hatching of its first peregrine falcon chick this year. The arrival was announced by the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, which collaborates with the university on managing the nest box. This season, two peregrine falcon eggs were laid in the nest situated at the university's Newton Building.
Since 2012, a dedicated webcam has provided continuous monitoring of the peregrine falcons and their offspring. This year's chick's appearance is nearly two years after the first egg was laid in 2024 by the parent falcons, identified as P9 and Archie. The typical breeding season for peregrine falcons spans from March through September.
