Concerns have surfaced regarding the purchase price, with allegations suggesting that the ATVs were acquired at rates exceeding market value. Each vehicle reportedly incurred an additional customization cost of Rs 2-3 lakh, which some experts deem substantial even with modifications. These ATVs are designed to navigate high and narrow terrains, enabling quicker access to fire points.
The accountant general is conducting a special audit to ascertain the facts surrounding the procurement. Forest officials maintain transparency, stating all records are available and they welcome the audit. The ATVs are also utilized for tourist activities such as jungle safaris and nature trails.
