Seventeen out of thirty-five industrial units inspected in Nuh, Haryana, have been found to be non-compliant with air pollution control regulations. The inspections, conducted on Thursday by eight flying squad teams as part of the Commission for Air Quality Management's "Operation Clean Air," revealed widespread violations.
Common infractions included fugitive dust emissions from uncovered conveyor belts and unpaved roads, the use of unapproved diesel generator sets and fuels like wood, and missing essential air emission monitoring systems. Inspectors also noted defective pollution control equipment such as wet scrubbers and Electrostatic Precipitators, along with inadequate stack heights.
While ten units were found to be fully compliant with their operating permits, seven were non-operational during the inspection period. Notices are currently being issued to the violating units by the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) based on the findings. The operation aims to improve air quality across the National Capital Region.
