Concerns have also been voiced regarding the accessibility for older residents or those without internet access. The council has stated that assistance is available via phone, library, or council office for those unable to register online. Registered users will have their details valid for three years.
Commercial-like vehicles, such as vans and pick-ups, will be permitted up to 12 free visits annually for household waste disposal after registration. This measure is designed to curb the improper disposal of commercial waste. Richard Foster, North Yorkshire Council's executive member for managing our environment, emphasized that the scheme is crucial for protecting a valued service without increasing taxpayer costs, aiming for improved access, reduced misuse, and greater efficiency.
