NGT Cracks Down on Noida Tree Concrete Violations
20 Aug
Summary
- Noida CEO ordered to fix tree concrete removal issues.
- DFO tasked with reporting on excessive tree pruning.
- NGT aims to protect tree survival and growth in Noida.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has mandated that the Noida CEO investigate concerns regarding the inadequate removal of concrete surrounding trees. This action, to be completed within two months, follows an application alleging that contracted agencies failed to properly clear concrete, leaving only minimal gaps around tree bases instead of the required one meter at numerous locations.
The tribunal has also instructed the district forest officer to assess claims of severe tree pruning. A resident filed the complaint on July 18, supported by geotagged photographs, detailing both the concrete removal issues and the excessive trimming that could jeopardize tree survival.
The NGT bench, acknowledging the need for verification, stated that if the allegations prove true, both corrective and punitive measures will be implemented. This ruling aligns with previous NGT orders from May 2025, which reinforced national guidelines on limiting concretization and mandating permeable materials for urban infrastructure to protect tree health.
