Noida Residents Brace for Deteriorating Air Quality in Coming Weeks

As of October 16th, 2025, the city of Noida is bracing for a potential deterioration in air quality in the coming weeks. According to the India Meteorological Department, the region is expected to experience clear skies, zero rainfall, and daytime temperatures between 32-33°C over the next week. While nighttime temperatures will gradually drop to 19-21°C, the high morning humidity of around 80% is expected to contribute to the trapping of pollutants near the surface.

The vice president of Skymet Weather, Mahesh Palawat, has warned that the current calm and dry conditions are already trapping pollutants close to the ground, and the "winter chill" will become more noticeable by the last week of October. Despite the enforcement of Stage-I of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across the National Capital Region, which includes strict dust control measures and increased patrolling, the air quality has already begun to decline.

The impact of this deteriorating air quality is already being felt by residents, with one Sector 76 resident, Rohit Sharma, expressing concern that the "moderate" air quality he is experiencing in mid-October is a worrying sign of what is to come. Another resident from Greater Noida West, Amit Kumar, has voiced his concerns about the impact on his children, who start coughing as soon as the air quality deteriorates, and he is worried that schools will wait until the air quality reaches "severe" levels before issuing advisories.
