Noida Residents Breathe Easier as Air Quality Improves

As of October 24, 2025, residents of Gautam Budh Nagar in Noida have experienced a slight improvement in air quality, with the region's air quality index (AQI) moving from "very poor" to "poor" for the first time in three days. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Noida recorded an AQI of 276 in the "poor" zone, compared to 330 on the previous day when it was "very poor". Similarly, Greater Noida's AQI fell from 308 ("very poor") to 280 ("poor").
Experts have attributed this improvement to a change in wind movement and reduced post-festive emissions. However, they have cautioned that the relief may be short-lived, as weather conditions may not remain favorable for the dispersion of pollutants through the upcoming weekend. Ritesh Tiwari, the regional officer of the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) in Noida, stated that the overall air quality has shown a gradual improvement since Wednesday evening as wind speed picked up slightly, aiding the dispersion of pollutants. He advised residents to continue avoiding prolonged outdoor exposure, especially during the morning hours.
District officials have reported that teams from the pollution control board, Noida authority, and the district administration have been jointly conducting inspections at construction sites and major traffic corridors to address the issue. The weather forecast for the region indicates that the district will continue to experience mild fog and mist during early mornings over the next few days, followed by mainly clear skies later in the day. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 30-32°C, while the minimum may drop to 16-18°C by the weekend, indicating a gradual onset of cooler conditions.
