Noida Faces Strict Action Over Road Dust and Waste
10 May
Summary
- CAQM inspection found 28 dust, C&D waste violations.
- Noida Authority directed to intensify sweeping and water sprinkling.
- Operation Clean Air continues across Delhi-NCR for pollution hotspots.

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has highlighted numerous violations concerning road dust and construction and demolition (C&D) waste management in Noida. Inspections conducted on Friday revealed 28 instances of significant road dust accumulation and C&D waste at various city locations. Deficiencies included insufficient sweeping, inadequate dust suppression, and improper waste handling.
The CAQM emphasized that road dust remains a major contributor to urban air pollution, necessitating focused mitigation efforts. The commission has mandated the Noida authority and other agencies to enhance mechanized road sweeping, implement targeted water sprinkling, and ensure prompt disposal of accumulated C&D waste. Accountability measures are to be enforced against responsible officers.
These inspection drives, part of 'Operation Clean Air,' are ongoing across Delhi-NCR to pinpoint and resolve localized pollution sources. The CAQM's actions come as Noida's average air quality index was recorded at 125 (moderate) on Saturday.
