NGT Extends Deadline for ACC Cement Pollution Report
18 Dec, 2025
Summary
- NGT granted four more weeks for a joint committee's report.
- A citizen filed a complaint alleging air pollution from ACC Cement.
- Environmental compensation funds are being used for local development.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has granted a four-week extension for a joint committee to submit its findings on alleged air pollution caused by ACC Cement's plant in Bilaspur district, Himachal Pradesh. The original complaint was filed on September 23, 2024, by local resident Kashmir Singh. The tribunal's bench, including judicial member Justice Arun Kumar Tyagi and expert member Dr. Afroz Ahmad, issued the order on Wednesday.
The joint committee cited delays in receiving a technical expert's report, which was eventually received on December 16. The NGT directed that the report signed by two committee members be filed within four weeks, also allowing another panel member, Dr. Narender Sharma, to submit his comments separately. The next hearing is scheduled for February 12, 2026.
