Nellore Battling Rains: Power Outages Plague District
13 Jun
Summary
- Six mandals in Nellore district received over 20 mm of rainfall.
- Fallen trees and flex banners disrupted power supply across the district.
- Electricity department worked to restore power using alternative supplies.

The SPSR Nellore district experienced significant rainfall on Friday and Saturday, with six mandals receiving over 20 mm of rain. Sangam mandal recorded the highest rainfall at 53 mm on Saturday. This intense weather led to widespread power disruptions across various parts of the district.
Fallen trees and a dislodged flex banner caused power supply interruptions by falling onto electricity lines in areas like Dargahmitta, Mulapet, and near Nippo Centre. Affected residential colonies include Kothur, Ambapuram, Aravinda Nagar, and Kallurupalli Housing Board Colony.
The Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) deployed staff to address the damage. They worked to remove obstructions and repair the affected power lines. In many residential areas, alternative power supplies were arranged while repairs were underway.
Officials confirmed that efforts are ongoing to fully restore power to all affected areas, including some rural regions. The focus remains on ensuring public safety and re-establishing normal power services throughout the district.
