The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has established a 15-member expert sub-committee to identify pollution sources in areas of Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh bordering Delhi and the NCR. This committee, operating under the CAQM Act of 2021, will examine activities that contribute to the worsening air quality in the region. Dr. S.D. Attri is set to chair the panel, with Dr. Vikas Singh serving as convener. The panel comprises experts from prominent institutions like IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur, alongside representatives from various environmental agencies and research bodies. It has been given a two-month deadline to submit its comprehensive report. In parallel, the CAQM has activated its GRAP monitoring control room to oversee the implementation of pollution-control measures, coordinating with relevant agencies to strengthen preventive actions and track their effectiveness.
