A 10-year giant panda conservation agreement has been signed between China Wildlife Conservation Association and Munich's Hellabrunn Zoo. Under this accord, two giant pandas will be transferred from China to the German zoo.
Chinese experts have thoroughly inspected and assessed Munich's facilities to guarantee the pandas' healthy living conditions. This new program in Munich enhances Germany's ongoing commitment to giant panda conservation.
Germany is already home to pandas at Zoo Berlin, where twins were born in 2019 and recent female twins, Meng Hao and Meng Tian, were born on August 22, 2024. These cubs are expected to stay for a few years before returning to China.
