Mumbai Commissioner: Monthly Reviews to Boost Civic Efficiency

In her initial days as Mumbai's municipal commissioner, Ashwini Bhide has taken decisive steps to invigorate the civic body's administrative functions. She has instituted a mandatory monthly review for all 53 departments, ensuring rigorous oversight of ongoing projects.

Bhide is also prioritizing environmental concerns, directing officials to bolster pollution mitigation strategies. With air quality improvements noted since March, preparations are underway for the upcoming winter, including plans for increased road washing and mandatory AQI monitors at construction sites.

Furthermore, a previously shelved 52 MLD water reservoir project at Malabar Hill is being re-evaluated. The administration is exploring an alternative plan to construct the reservoir while ensuring minimal damage to the area's trees, addressing ecological concerns that had halted the project.
