A young mountain lion cub named Crimson has found a permanent home following a challenging start to life. Rescued at just three weeks old, Crimson was discovered abandoned by his mother. He suffered from a critical hind foot injury and missing toes, which necessitated the amputation of his limb by veterinary teams at Oakland Zoo.
Following his recovery and successful adaptation to life on three legs, Crimson is now ready for his next chapter. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has designated the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, as his forever home. Due to his young age, Crimson was deemed unable to acquire essential survival skills needed for release into the wild.
Crimson's rescue involved a collaborative effort from various organizations, including the Los Angeles Zoo and Flying Tails animal air ambulance. At the refuge, he will continue to receive dedicated veterinary care, ample enrichment, and the opportunity to thrive.
