Indore Sweats as Monsoon Delays, Pre-Monsoon Showers Offer Little Relief

Pre-monsoon showers are currently influencing the weather in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, offering temporary respite from the heat amidst a significant delay in the arrival of the southwest monsoon. The monsoon, which is nearly 10 days behind schedule, is now anticipated to reach Madhya Pradesh around June 24-25, provided conditions become favorable.

This delay is causing considerable concern for farmers, as sowing activities are critically dependent on timely rainfall. Currently, the state has experienced a rainfall deficit of approximately 44% for June, although many districts still report rainfall within normal ranges. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for severe thunderstorms in specific districts like Agar-Malwa and Sehore, indicating ongoing unstable weather patterns across central Madhya Pradesh.

While several districts are bracing for rain and gusty winds, others, such as Satna and Rewa, are expected to experience bright sunshine. The forecast for Indore suggests warm conditions will persist with intermittent cloud cover and the possibility of rain as the city approaches the anticipated monsoon window, with temperatures generally remaining in the mid-30s.
