Middlesbrough Tackles Waste: New Bins & Caddies Arrive
13 Feb
Summary
- New bins and food caddies are being rolled out across Middlesbrough.
- Deliveries for the new bins and caddies will run from March to June.
- Over 6,500 fly-tipping reports were received by the council recently.

Middlesbrough Council is rolling out extensive updates to its waste and recycling services. Households will soon receive new food caddies and either wheelie bins or sacks for paper and cardboard. These deliveries are set to commence at the start of March and conclude by the end of June. This significant overhaul aims to enhance recycling rates across the town.
The initiative includes providing residents with a small kitchen caddy and a larger outdoor caddy for weekly food waste collections. A roll of compostable liners and a guide will also be distributed. Homes already equipped with wheelie bins will get a new red-lidded bin for fortnightly paper and cardboard collections, while others will receive red sacks.
These changes are a response to the nearly 6,500 fly-tipping reports received by the council over the last twelve months. Councillor Peter Gavigan highlighted these as the most substantial waste collection changes in years, emphasizing the council's commitment to a smooth transition and improved recycling outcomes for the community.
