Manesar Tackles Waste with Tech: RFID & QR Codes Track Garbage

Manesar has implemented a new system to enhance its garbage collection services, with residents able to lodge complaints via a toll-free helpline, 1800-208-5654, expecting resolution within three hours. This system, introduced in December, employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags and QR codes to digitally verify collection visits across residential, commercial, and village units.

MCM officials are actively mapping approximately 110,000 units and additional newly constructed properties, managing about 200 tonnes of waste daily. A fleet of 154 vehicles, including 120 tractors and trucks, ensures efficient collection, with each vehicle required to service at least 1,000 units. The vehicles are equipped with separate compartments for wet and dry waste.

Work is ongoing to tag the remaining units with RFID and GPS tracking. Officials assure that QR codes are solely for service verification and do not compromise personal data, emphasizing their role in monitoring service levels to improve the city's cleanliness ranking in Swachh Survekshan.
