Manesar Tackles Air Pollution With Drones
12 Feb
Summary
- Drones will map garbage dumping and C&D waste hotspots.
- An integrated action plan targets waste, vehicles, and road dust.
- New vehicles will improve waste collection efficiency by 50%.

Manesar has initiated a comprehensive action plan to combat air pollution, leveraging technology like drones to identify and address key pollution sources. This plan specifically targets solid waste management, vehicle-related emissions, and control of road dust, aiming to make the city pollution-free.
Drone surveys are integral to mapping garbage dumping hotspots and construction and demolition waste sites. This data will inform targeted cleanup and enforcement actions. Agreements have been made with expert agencies for scientific waste processing and recycling, including the establishment of a material recovery facility for dry waste.
The initiative also emphasizes dust control on major roads using anti-smog guns and water sprinklers. A plan is in place to scientifically process a significant portion of existing waste, with new auto-tippers and collection vehicles set to improve door-to-door waste collection efficiency.
