Maldon Council Threatens Housing Halt Over Dust

Council leader Simon Morgan indicated the authority is ready to enforce 'notices to cease' construction if the developer does not fulfill its responsibilities. A spokesperson for Persimmon Homes apologized for the disruption but stated that neighbours have been reassured by implemented dust reduction measures, including mist cannons.
Despite these claims, Morgan expressed disappointment that Persimmon had not adequately addressed the dust issue. He deemed the conditions unacceptable for residents, especially given the developer's prominent status. The council had initially refused the planning application for 281 homes, but this decision was overturned by the Planning Inspectorate in March 2025.
