Lucknow Accelerates Animal Birth Control to Curb Stray Population

On October 29, 2025, Lucknow's Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar inspected the under-construction animal birth control (ABC) and training center at Jarhara. He reviewed the progress and quality of the work, and instructed the teams to accelerate the pace of construction while maintaining high standards and transparency.
Kumar stated that the Jarhara center would be essential for the systematic population control of stray animals in the city, as well as for providing them with humane and scientific care. He emphasized that all projects related to animal birth control are among the corporation's top priorities, and officials have been asked to complete the pending work within set timelines.
Later, the commissioner also visited the Radha Upvan Gaushala in Jarhara and reviewed its facilities, directing officials to build additional tin sheds to provide adequate shelter for the cows. He then inspected another ABC center under construction at Amausi, where he interacted with the engineers and field officers, reviewed the layout and materials used, and asked them to accelerate the construction without compromising quality standards.
Highlighting the corporation's focus, Kumar said that Lucknow Municipal Corporation is committed to addressing the issue of stray animals in a structured and sustainable way. Once the ABC centers become operational, they will help reduce the stray population and contribute to cleaner surroundings and improved public safety.
