A young lion cub has been reunited with his family in Minnesota, concluding a nearly two-year separation. The Wildcat Sanctuary, an accredited big cat rescue facility located in Sandstone, Minnesota, facilitated this extraordinary reunion.
Approximately eighteen months prior, the sanctuary became involved in a significant case concerning the illegal trafficking of lions. These animals were being sold for private ownership and to less reputable establishments. Following government intervention, the sanctuary managed to rescue nine lions from this operation.
However, one cub, named Kiros and now 2.5 years old, was unaccounted for. Locating him was a formidable challenge. Sanctuary staff are now embarking on a careful plan to reintegrate Kiros with his family over the next six months.
This plan includes introducing Kiros to another cub, Mango, before their eventual return to a larger pride. The sanctuary founder expressed that reuniting full animal families is an exceptionally rare and rewarding occurrence in their line of work.
