A wild leopard was safely rescued from the Dhruvnagar locality of Nashik city following a nearly five-hour coordinated operation on Saturday. Forest department officials received an alert around 10 am regarding the animal's presence in an under-construction row house.
Rescue teams, including wildlife experts and city police, initiated a search. The leopard, upon emerging, sought refuge in dense bushes, necessitating the use of a thermal drone to track its exact location. Vegetation was cleared with an earthmoving machine to improve visibility.
Eventually, the animal was tranquilized by a veterinary team and safely transported to the Wildlife Treatment Centre at Mhasrul. The leopard, a 1.5-year-old female, is currently undergoing treatment for a skin infection. The operation ensured the safety of both residents and the animal.
