District Collector M.S. Madhavikkutty inaugurated 'Operation Hot Spot' on August 11, 2026, a new campaign by the Local Self-Government department (LSGD) in Kozhikode. This initiative aims to bolster waste management practices and strengthen enforcement activities across the district.
The campaign will involve targeted inspections at various locations. These include establishments discharging wastewater, facilities housing over 100 individuals, and areas where migrant workers reside, with a primary focus on their sanitation arrangements. Local self-government bodies will also diligently inspect water tanks within hotels and public institutions.
Specific inspection dates are scheduled: August 18, 2026, for identified hotspots; August 20, 2026, for large-scale waste-generating establishments; and August 22, 2026, for water tanks. All inspection data will be logged on the LSGD's war-room portal for effective monitoring and review at multiple administrative levels.
