- Old sewage treatment plants have become ineffective, requiring upgrades.

Maharashtra's Environment Minister, Pankaja Munde, has mandated an urgent plan to restore and control pollution at Nagpur's Koradi Lake. This directive followed concerns raised by Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule regarding the lake's deteriorating environmental and public health impact.
Minister Munde instructed the environment department to present a detailed rejuvenation plan within eight days. The 550-acre Koradi Lake is heavily polluted by untreated sewage from four nearby municipal councils and surrounding villages. Earlier sewage treatment infrastructure has proven outdated and ineffective.
During a high-level meeting, officials were urged to find permanent solutions to halt sewage discharge into the lake. Minister Munde assured that the state government prioritizes environmental restoration and public health, promising immediate action upon the plan's submission and swift implementation of long-term measures.
